Funding the future
The AFA Education Foundation (AFAEF), established in 2003, is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that brings educational opportunities into reach for individuals and their family members in the fence and gate industry by providing scholarships to highly deserving students. Scholarships are funded through individual, company, and chapter donations and proceeds from AFA Education Foundation fundraising activities.
HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Higher education scholarships are awarded annually. For 2025, up to five scholarships of $5,000 will be awarded. Scholarship applications must be submitted by January 17, 2025 and recipients will be announced at FENCETECH during the Awards Brunch.
Recipient criteria:
- Achieved a 2.5 grade point average or better in the previous three years of schooling.
- Currently employed in the fence and gate industry, or the child of a current employee in the fence and gate industry.
- Performed a minimum of 40 hours of community service over the previous four years.
- File a properly completed application by the due date (January 17, 2025).
Items that will be asked for during the application:
- Provide an essay as part of the application.
- Submit a photograph of yourself that can be used in a slide presentation at FENCETECH.
- Include a letter of recommendation with the application.
- Scholarships can be used for:
- Four-year colleges and universities.
- Recognized two-year "junior colleges."
- Vocational training schools related to the construction industry.
Applicant’s names will be kept anonymous from the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee will be comprised of an AFA staff member (as designated by the AFA Board of Directors) two representatives from the AFA Educational Foundation Board of Directors (as designated by the AFAEF Board of Directors) and the Chair-Elect of the AFA Chapter Presidents Committee and the President-Elect of the AFA.
